SEVENFRIDAY watches have been breaking through the traditional timepiece industry with their innovative industrial designs. Although they are Swiss-made, they barely resemble traditional watch designs that have been around for decades. The square watches with rounded edges and corners are just a part of what makes this collection so different.
The dials (or interfaces, as SEVENFRIDAY calls them) are multi-layer, adding to each model's fascinating appearance. At first, the time displays may look complex, but you’ll quickly notice that the designs are intended to create depth rather than typical shallow-looking dials. A few models are designed to be more complicated, using what the company calls the “additioner principle,” meaning that only part of the usual time is displayed. (It is super simple once you understand that the hours are marked up to 4, and the central disc shows +0, +4, and +8 that, when added together, provide the current hour).
Yes, they are. Although the company sources their calibers from Miyota, a Japanese movement manufacturer, it modifies them to proprietary specs. An integrated NFC chip is placed below every movement, making it easy to pair the watch with their smartphone app.
